Bad Blogger

I know, I know...I haven't posted in a loooooong time. Work has been crazy, to say the least!
So to catch you up on all things bridal:
  • I found a dress! More details on that later...
  • A DJ has been booked....Complete Music is our company of choice. We are both very picky on the music that we want during our reception-I hope our DJ will be very understanding! All songs must be okay'ed by us...No Conga, No Macarena and NO CHICKEN DANCE!!!
  • Two words: Engagement Fiesta! Pictures to come :)
  • The accessory hunt is on like Donkey Kong. I am starting to search for my veil, shoes and earrings, which should be fun since I am so indecisive!

Girls in Pretty Dresses

I have been dreading looking for bridesmaid dresses. How am I supposed to find one dress that flatters all of my girls at a price that doesn't require a second mortgage?! I think it's slightly ridiculous to ask my bridesmaids to look like sextuplets so that I can stand out. So I went on a hunt for unique ways to breathe new life into being a bridesmaid.
Which is when I saw this:

I am in looooooooove with the chic, cool way that these dresses are so different yet go together so perfectly! I can't wait to let my girls know that they won't be bridesmaid clones! :)

Inspiration

I love looking at wedding inspiration photos. Aaron thinks I am a crazy person because all I do in my spare time is look at wedding photos online...maybe I am crazy! :)
So I took my crazy and put it to good use by creating a wedding inspiration board at StyleMePretty.com (my new favorite wedding blog):

The Matt

Every girl has a picture in her head of what she wants her wedding day to look like: the type of dress she will wear, the color of flowers that will be included in her bouquet, the song she will dance her first dance to, etc. For me, the picture of my perfect wedding day always included the Durham Museum. For those who don't live in Omaha, the Durham is this ah-mazing, Art Deco masterpiece; a train station converted into a museum that I spent many a days at as a child. I didn't want to have my reception anywhere else!
But I was sooned kicked back to reality when I looked into the Durham; it was amazing (as always) but it was very expensive and didn't include anything: no tables, no chairs, no dance floor...nothing. And as hard as I tried (Trust me, I tried really, really, really hard) to fit it into our budget, it just didn't work. :(
So on a whim, my fiance and I went and looked at the Old Mattress Factory, a warehouse-converted-into-a-restaurant that has a second floor rental space. I didn't want to go; I thought that the space would be cheesy and cheap...but man, was I wrong!
We immediately loved the cool, lofty vibe and the price was just right! Even though it's not the Durham, I think it fits our personality so much better and I am excited to put our stamp on the place on our wedding day. Sometimes you find what you are looking for in the most unexpected places :)

Update

Since I am getting started on this blog-thing a little late, I wanted to give everybody an update. We have decided on the wedding date:

We have become parishoners and reserved St. Bridget's Church (26th & F St) here in Omaha for the blessed event. Anyone who hasn't seen the inside of this church is missing out! In one word: GORGEOUS! Will post pic's soon!
